GENERAL FAQs

Q. When can I register for Beverly Girls Youth Lacrosse (BGYL)?

A. Registration for BGYL starts December 30th, 2020 and runs through January 15th, 2021.  Returning players are given priority and new players can register starting January 7th.  Registration will close when teams reach capacity after which players will be placed on a wait list.

Q. At what age can my child play with the town program?

A. Beginning in 1st grade through 8th grade.

  • U9- 1st/2nd
  • U11- 3rd/4th
  • U13- 5th/6th
  • U15- 7th/8th

Q. How much does it cost to participate in BGYL?

A. The player registration fee is $150 with a $25 discount for all siblings.  All players are also required to register with Founders Girls Lacrosse League (FGLL) and pay a $30 registration fee.  Uniforms for new and returning players that need them are ~$70.  New in 2021, players are NOT required to register with US Lacrosse.  If you are a new or returning player and are unable to meet the financial requirements, please reach out to BGYL Treasurer, Marc Bilotti.

Q. How do we purchase uniforms?

A. An online store from Boat House Sports will be set up and shared to the league. Look for an email as early as the first week in January.

Q. Why is the registration deadline so short this year?  Beverly Girls Youth Lacrosse (BGYL), along with neighboring programs, joined the Founders Girls Lacrosse League (FGLL) for the 2021 season and beyond.  This transition, along with the uncertainty brought upon by the pandemic, have delayed registration.  We’d like to have all registrations in as soon as possible so that we can meet the FGLL January 15th cut off date to register teams.  In addition, uniform orders will need to be completed by late January to ensure delivery by April 11th.  If player demand warrants, we will re-open registration to accommodate as many players as possible.

Q. What happens if the season is cancelled due to the pandemic?

A. We do not anticipate a cancellation of the 2021 season, however, we are planning for many scenarios.  Last year, BGYL refunded 100% of the player registration fee for all families that requested one.  In the event that the upcoming season is cancelled we will once again refund 100% of the player registration fee.  The $30 FGLL registration fee and $70 uniform fee is not refundable.

Q. Can my child participate in other sports and activities during the lacrosse season?

A. Yes, many players also participate in other activities. Coaches are volunteers and put a lot of time and effort into the program, and make every effort to be somewhat flexible and respectful of the players' other interests and activities, we ask you to please be respectful in return and don't register your child if she is unable to make a significant commitment to the team.

Q. What if my daughter is placed on a waitlist?

A: At some age groups we are limited by the number of qualified coaches available, field space, and other factors.  While it’s a possibility that your child will not be placed on a team, rarely have we not been able to accommodate all players on the waitlist.
