Q. When can I register for Beverly Girls Youth Lacrosse (BGYL)?

A. Registration for BGYL starts December 1, 2021 and runs through January 31, 2022.   Registration will close when teams reach capacity after which players will be placed on a wait list. Our goal is to ensure that all players wanting to play will have the opportunity.

Q. At what age can my child play with the town program?

A. Beginning in 1st grade through 8th grade.

  • U8- 1st/2nd
  • U10- 3rd/4th
  • U12- 5th/6th
  • U14- 7th/8th

Q. How much does it cost to participate in BGYL?

A. The player registration fee is a one-time payment of $185 TOTAL (with a $25 discount for all siblings)= $150 towards BGYL membership and $35 towards Founders Girls Lacrosse (covers insurance).  All players are also required to sign a waiver with Founders Girls Lacrosse League (FGLL).  Uniforms for new and returning players that need them are ~$70.  New as of 2021, players are NOT required to register with US Lacrosse.  If you are a new or returning player and are unable to meet the financial requirements, please reach out to BGYL Treasurer, Marc Bilotti.

Q. How do we purchase uniforms?

A. An online store from Boat House Sports will be set up and shared to the league. Look for an email alerting you to the       store being open.

Q. Can my child participate in other sports and activities during the lacrosse season?

A. Yes, many players also participate in other activities. Coaches are volunteers and put a lot of time and effort into the program, and make every effort to be somewhat flexible and respectful of the players' other interests and activities, we ask you to please be respectful in return and don't register your child if she is unable to make a significant commitment to the team.

Q. What if my daughter is placed on a waitlist?

A: At some age groups we are limited by the number of qualified coaches available, field space, and other factors.  While it’s a possibility that your child will not be placed on a team, rarely have we not been able to accommodate all players on the waitlist.

Q. Will there be a jamboree this year, if so when and where?

A. Yes!

  • Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Rogers Field, Devens, MA
  • Game format: same as spring league: 1/2 & 3/4: 8v8; 5/6 & 7/8: 12v12

Q. Will BGYL have Select Teams this year?

A: For the first time, we are planning on fielding Select teams at the 5-6 and 7-8 grade levels.  To do so, we will hold tryouts in January to choose 18-20 girls for each team.  The Select commitment includes an additional practice during the week with games on Friday nights.  Depending on the number of girls that want to participate, there will likely be cuts.  This is new for our program, however, it’s very consistent with what other programs in our area are offering.  Select offers the opportunity for extra reps and elevated competition for those girls that want it. There will be an additional fee to play on the select team more details to follow.

Q: Will my player be required to fundraise?
A: Yes,
You may have noticed that teams around Beverly are canning once again!  We've had a tremendous amount of success with this in the past, and pandemic permitting, we're hoping to see BGYL players at a Beverly business location in April/May of next year.  More to come here, the money raised through canning is an important component of running the program and has allowed us to maintain continuity the last 2 years.
